Poland's gross domestic product rose 8.5% year-on-year in the first quarter compared to a revised 7.6% rise in the previous quarter, a first estimate from the statistics office showed on Tuesday.

Analysts polled by Reuters expected a growth of 7.9% year-on-year.

The statistics office said that in the first quarter seasonally-adjusted GDP rose by 2.4% quarter-on-quarter, versus a revised 1.8% in the previous quarter.
