AMMAN -- Justice Minister Ahmad Ziadat on Thursday said he overturned a decision to refer the Audit Bureau report on the Socio-Economic Transformation Plan to the Anti-Corruption Commission because the case file was being examined by the Amman prosecutor general's office.

The minister added that the bureau's report on the case was directly referred to the prosecutor upon its request, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The Audit Bureau found that over JD30 million allocated for the plan had gone missing, Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour told reporters earlier this month.

The programme, worth around JD750 million, was launched in November 2001 upon Royal directives with the goal of accelerating the pace of social and economic reforms and raising the quality of citizens' living standards.

Then-planning minister Bassem Awadallah supervised the project.
