ABUI DHABI, Apr. 14th, 2010: The Zayed Higher Foundation for Humanitarian Care, People with Special Needs and Minor's Affairs has won the Outstanding Special Needs Centres Award, one of the categories of the second edition of The Princess Haya Award for Special Education.

The Princess Haya Award for Special Education is in recognition of the Zayed Foundation's services to people with special needs throughout Arab countries.

Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation Mohammed Fadhel Al-Hamli, in press statements, expressed appreciation for HRH Princess Haya for her support to people with special needs and the community well-beingAl-Hamli added that the award, the first of its kind in Arab countries, serves as a strong motivation for national human resources including therapists, educators, administrative staff, and caregivers in the field of Special Needs to further improve services to people with special needs and add boost to the process of integrating the same into their society.

He further stressed that services and care provided to people with special needs has seen huge development throughout the UAE.

For her part, Maryam Al-Qubaisi, head of Special Needs Department at the Foundation said winning the honor was made possible thanks to the Abu Dhabi Rehab and Care Centre for Special Needs and its female and male educators and administrative staff.

She added that the award recognizes the Foundation's success in prioritizing services which are in accordance with the best internationally recognized standards.

The Princess Haya Award for Special Education aims to create a positive environment of competition between various segments within the realm of the special needs field. A step, we hope, which will reflect positively on the development of this sector and the services provided to people with special needs, by encouraging the highest standards of professional and ethical practice.
