BEIRUT (Zawya Dow Jones)--MTC Vodafone Bahrain, better known as Zain Bahrain, has allocated $50 million to develop and upgrade its network in 2012 and will invest an equal amount in 2013, Manama-based Al Wasat daily reports Monday citing an executive.

Zain Bahrain expects to sign the upgrade contracts by June with Nokia Siemens, [China's] Huawei, and other companies, Mohammed Zainalabedin, the company's general manager, told the paper.

The mobile phone operator and internet services provider, which started operations in 2003, is a 56.25% owned unit of Kuwait's Zain Group, according to Zawya.com data.

The company also plans to add about 200 towers in 2012 and 2013 as part of a program to strengthen its position on the Bahraini market which is small but promising, he told Al Wasat.
