BEIRUT: Batroun MP Antoine Zahra said Wednesday the investigation into the attempted assassination of Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea had practically hit a dead end.
During a radio interview, Zahra said the investigations have reached “a semi-dead end” and accused the government of not facilitating the investigators’ work on the case.
“What remains is determining the perpetrators by analyzing phone activity during a specific time,” Zahra added. He also accused agents of the Syrian regime in Lebanon of straining the security situation and called on the government to support the Army in going after those who tamper with security.
“What is taking place in Tripoli is an attempt to pressure and blackmail Prime Minister Najib Mikati in order to tame him in the government,” Zahra said.
