Nad Al Sheba Club's Yasin Ali extended his overnight seven-stroke lead to 10 strokes and made yesterday's play in the 2005 Emirates Black Tee Challenge a formality.

The event, supported by Gulf News, was made even more difficult with high winds and tricky greens and all the players were tested to their limits.

After carding a 68 in the first round on Friday, Ali looked as though he would go low again as he made an eagle on the 3rd hole but the unseasonable weather conditions hindered his progress and he reached the tune in 39, back to level par for the tournament.

Three birdies on the back nine saw Ali home with 76 for a 144 total and his 10-stroke victory.

As promised, the battle for second place was intense but it was Dino Varkey (DCGYC) who emerged from the pack with the steadiest game and scored another 77 to claim the runners-up prize.

Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club junior Andy Andrews fired an excellent 76 in the second round to win third place.

He led a junior onslaught at the prizegiving, as he and his colleagues collected no fewer than five awards.

Matthew Turner (EGC) won Best Gross, Round 2 with 78 while it was a junior first, second and third in the overall Net Division with Sidney D'Souza (DCGYC 149), Eric Hesson (EGC 149) and Joel Neale (DCGYC 151) all winning prizes as well.

In the Daily Net prizes, Gordon Duncan's home advantage saw him to a superb net 71 to win the Round 2 prize while Rod Hartshorne (UGA) won on first day with 73.
