Dubai: As part of UAE-wide celebrations during the build-up to the country’s hosting of the Fifa Under-17 World Cup from October 17, the tournament’s Trophy Tour is making its final stop in Dubai from Thursday.

For five days, organisers will give fans in the city the chance to win prizes, see the trophy up close and buy tickets for the football festival in the Emirates. The tour is scheduled to visit The Walk, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), from Thursday to Saturday, followed by Dubai Mall on October 14 and 15.

Mohammad Bin Bdoua, Tournament Director, said: “We have met over 6,000 football fans and families through the Trophy Tour during the past couple of weeks across five host cities. The positive feedback we’ve received from the UAE’s football communities has been fantastic and we are now finalising preparations for the opening match of the tournament in just seven days, so the UAE can continue the football celebrations.”

For fans who missed the trophy tour in their city, tickets are available at Hallmark stores at Marina Mall (Abu Dhabi), Al Jimi Mall (Al Ain), Manar Mall (Ras Al Khaimah), City Centre Mall (Fujairah), Sahara Mall (Sharjah) and Dubai Mall, or online at fifa.com/u17worldcup.

Next week the 24 qualified nations will begin the tournament in six groups of four, with the top two teams in each group automatically qualifying for the round of 16. The four best third-placed teams from the group stages will also progress to the knock-out stages.
