A delegation from the Directorate of Works of the Bahrain Ministry of Interior visited the Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) to learn about the sophisticated computer systems that have been used at the smelter to manage and maintain its buildings for more than five years.

The visit was arranged as part of Alba's policy of maintaining close working cooperation with various sectors and organisations from across Bahrain and particularly those which are involved in developing and further enhancing the services being offered in the Kingdom.

Mahmood Ramadhan Mohammed, Support and Services Plant Engineer Alba said: "The visit of the delegation from the Directorate of Works of the Bahrain Ministry of Interior to Alba allowed them the opportunity to learn about the sophisticated SAP computer systems we use to manage our buildings as well as the other applications we use to maintain our infrastructure. The systems we follow here have achieved consistently high results over the five years we have been using them."

"The visiting delegation also toured the smelter facilities to see for themselves some of the buildings and learn even more from some of our expert maintenance and engineering professionals about the systems we use at Alba."

Faisal Ahmed Abdulla Hassan, Ministry of Interior Project Engineer said: "This visit to Alba was a very fruitful one for us. It was highly specialised and allowed us the opportunity to learn more about the SAP systems used by Alba to manage and maintain its building as well as some of the more important technologies that can serve to support the role of the Directorate of Works of the Bahrain Ministry of Interior which seeks to constantly improve the services it offers."

"Alba is a regional pioneer and an economic pillar in the Kingdom," added Hassan. "The smelter's use of sophisticated computer applications to stay abreast with the latest technological developments not only with regards to the metal production process at the smelter but also in its engineering management issues is most impressive," he said.
