Dubai Festival City will invite tenders for the construction of a Dh700 million hotel to be managed by the Four Seasons Hotel group, officials said.

Work on the Four Seasons Hotel Dubai - the first Four Seasons property in the UAE - will commence at the end of this year and is due for completion in late 2006. The 250-room luxury hotel is scheduled to open in 2007.

The design of the Four Seasons Hotel Dubai, to be located adjacent to the Al Badia Golf Course, is in its final stage.

The design will be completed in a month and a half, said David Glanville-Williams, Managing Director of Dubai Festival City.

"Following the completion of the design, we will invite tenders from a limited number of contractors to bid," he said.

The Four Seasons Hotel Dubai will have 250 rooms, a number of villas, a health club, a destination spa, five restaurants and a range of conference and banquet facilities.

The Al Futtaim Group, which owns the development, is also fast-tracking its $4.2 billion (Dh15.41 billion) mixed-use residential project, Dubai Festival City.

Dubai Municipality is building the third bridge on Dubai Creek, which will cross some of the clusters of the project. Officials yesterday also unveiled the Four Seasons Golf and Country Club, which will incorporate the recently-opened Robert Trent Jones II-designed 18-hole Al Badia golf course.

"With this development, the championship Al Badia course becomes the 11th in our prestigious international golf portfolio and our first golf offering within the Middle East," said Antoine Corinthios, president for the Europe, Middle East and Africa of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

"This is a truly magnificent facility which will enhance Dubai's inbound tourism appeal and which will be marketed internationally through the Four Seasons global network," he said.

Designed by international consultants Wimberley Allison, Tong and Goo, the clubhouse will have restaurants, lounges, a pro-shop and banqueting facilities. The surrounding terrace will have vantage points with dramatic views of Dubai.
