Tourists arriving at Dubai airport received a warm welcome last even-ing as part of the Dubai Summer Surprises celebrations which have entered their second week with the theme Sweet Surprises.
The airport has set up a "welcome tent" in which dates and Arabic coffee were served to the visitors. They also received gift bags with toys for kids, vouchers worth Dh300 from Paris Gallery, chocolates, dates and Modhesh photos, said Khalifa Al Falasi, DSS co-ordinator.
The welcome team included Shaikha Al Mutawa, head of the Sweets Surprises Committee from the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Ebrahim Saleh, DSS chief operating officer and top members of the DSS organising committee.
"We heard a lot about DSS and I think it is the right place for my kids to enjoy their holidays. Dubai is well-known for its speedy development and I think DSS would be the same with its new and unique look. This is the first time I'm visiting Dubai during DSS. I can describe this reception as a welcome that I could not dream of," said Walaa Beshrey and his wife Basnat Alwey from Egypt.
"This is our first visit to Dubai during DSS. However, some of my friends who visited Dubai during Dubai Shopping Festival and DSS told me that these events are quite amazing. This is what brought me to Dubai and to witness the wonderful world of fun and entertainment," said Laila Al Shrah from Kuwait.
"Since this is my first visit I don't know what to expect outside the airport. I think it will be beautiful."
