Oct 30 (Reuters) - The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index .BADI , which gauges the cost of shipping commodities such as iron ore, grain, coal and fertiliser, fell for a 10th consecutive day on Wednesday, weighed down by a drop in capesize and panamax rates.

* The overall index, which factors in the average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk vessels, fell 67 points, or 4.32 percent, to 1,484 points. This is the lowest level since Sept. 9.

* The Baltic's capesize index .BACI , falling for 10 days now, lost 176 points, or 7.52 percent, to 2,164 points, the lowest since Aug. 19.

* Average daily earnings for capesizes, which usually transport 150,000-tonne cargoes such as iron ore and coal, were down $1,863 at $16,005, a 10.42 percent fall.

* The Baltic's panamax index .BPNI shed 74 points, or 4.13 percent, to 1,716 points.

* Average daily earnings for panamaxes, which usually transport 60,000 to 70,000-tonne cargoes of coal or grain, fell $586 to $13,712.

* "Over the past week the majority of pure dry bulk plays are down and we do expect a further decline as much of the excitement has evaporated. However, we maintain the view of a gradual cyclical upturn over the coming years which is bound to lift asset values and stock prices," Erik Nikolai Stavseth, an analyst for Arctic Securities, said in a note.
