PARIS, June 9 (Reuters) - Michelin MICP.PA plans to buy Brazilian digital truck fleet management company Sascar for 440 million euros ($599 million) to tap into strong growth in the independent trucker industry in Brazil, the French tyres and auto services group said on Monday.

Sao Paulo-based Sascar has 870 employees and manages 33,000 fleets totalling 190,000 trucks. It generated revenue of 280 million reais (around 91 million euros) in 2013 and has enjoyed sales growth of 16 percent annually over the past three years, Michelin said in a statement.

Sascar generated some 73 percent of its 2013 sales from fleet management systems that track truck-kilometres, fuel consumption and driver safety among other data. Twelve percent came from cargo tracking and 14 percent from stolen vehicle retrieval.

In an investor presentation, Michelin said Sascar was the fleet management market leader in Brazil with a 23 percent market share.

It said fleet management in Brazil was a fast growing market with only 4 percent of vehicles currently tracked and the market expected to grow by 15 percent a year in the period up to 2017.

Michelin will also acquire around 80 million euros of debt, putting an enterprise value on the deal of 520 million euros. Michelin's presentation said the deal value represented a enterprise value multiple of 11 times projected 2014 EBITDA, compared with 14 to 19 times for similar companies.
