Dubai, 18 Nov. 05 (WAM) - Dubai's strategic plan is part and parcel of the comprehensive national development strategy seekingto make the UAE as a role model for economic success, a senior minister has said.
''Dubai's strategic plan is an integral part of the UAE's overalldevelopment strategy that is based on training national manpowerto become the backbone which will implement the comprehensive development plan for building the country,'' according to General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister.
In an interview to the ''Dira'a Al Watan'' magazine of the UAEArmed Forces on the eve of the 9th cycle of Dubai Air Show from 20 to 24 November, Sheikh Mohammed underlined that : ''Without a well educated, oriented and trained national manpower on that strategy, wewill not be able achieve our goals to make our country an examplefor a true success story in all walks of life.
''Towards this end, we have made long strides and with our firmpersistence we have overcome all obstacles till our country has becomethe cynosure of the world and our successful experiment in many fieldshas been the beacon to several countries and public institutions,'' SheikhMohammed said, adding that this in itself is a source of proud and happinessfor us and make our people more confidence and hopeful in a promisingfuture.
''Our ultimate goal is to secure a decent source of living anda job to every UAE man and woman, enabling he/she to establish a family and live decently and comfortably,''.
The Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister said the Dubai Air Show would see remarkable quantitative expansion after the completion of the 500,000 square meter Jebel Ali Airport exhibition cityin 2009.
''This offers exhibitors more spaces to display a wide-range of their products and technologies and clients or consumers more optionsof selection,'' he said, pointing out that the show had become one ofthe world's premier specialized aviation events, which attracts majorglobal players and manufacturers of the civilian and military aviationindustry.
''The strategic location of the UAE, the confidence its enjoysat international circles, along with the availability of ultra-moderninfrastructure, facilities and amenities are among the major attractionsto lure in more exhibitors from all corners of the world,'' he explained.
On the Dubai's government support for the exhibition industry,Sheikh Mohammed affirmed that the sector had become one of the dynamic driving force of our national economy.
''It is a successful industry by all standards if it comparesto its counterparts in other countries of the region and the world.
Our youths, organisations and facilities are ready to make this industrya success.''We have the know-how and successful experiment along withthe world class infrastructure and services .... all these factors combinedprovide the solid foundation and fertile ground to promote and developthis industry as a key source of national income.
Despite its commercial and economic importance, he noted, the showhas its own human touch as a forum for communication betweennations of different cultures and civilisation.
''It is really a festival for promotion of cultural diversity,peace, peaceful co-existence and knowledge......we are proudto host such an international gathering through which we alsotake the opportunity to promote and present our culture, customsand our love for peace, justice and freedom,'' Sheikh Mohammed underlined.
In his reply to a question about the possibility of creatingan Arab aviation industry, Sheikh Mohammed held the view that : ''The Arab World is in a desperate need to involve in all forms and fields of the industrial sector in order to depend on itself and secure the minimum self-sufficiency.
''This, of course, calls for Arabs to join hands in terms of financial, scientific and technological resources backed by strongwill and decisive political resolve,'' he stressed.
He also called on Arabs, whether governments, companiesand individuals, to initiate joint industrial investment venturesin air, sea and land transport, which constitutes a sound base for diversified, integrated industry.
''We in the UAE are making strenuous efforts to diversify our local and foreign investment portfolios through establishing strategic partnerships with international industrial groupsto launch light industries.
