UAE’s telecommunications conglomerate Etisalat Group has appointed a new chief executive officer (CEO), it has been confirmed.
Hatem Dowidar, who has 30 years of experience in multinational companies, has officially taken over the CEO role effective today, December 16, the company said in a bourse filing with the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, on which its shares are listed.
Hatem has been serving as acting group CEO since May 20, 2020. The position was left vacant after the previous chief executive, Saleh Al Abdooli, resigned from his post for personal reasons.
Dowidar first joined the company in September 2015 as chief operating officer. He was later appointed as CEO, international of Etisalat Group in March 2016.
Prior to joining Etisalat, Dowidar served as the group chief of staff for Vodafone based in London, reporting to Vodafone Group CEO.
He has three decades of experience in multinational companies, with 24 years of these spent within the telecommunications industry across various leadership positions.
