Al Futtaim Motors, the official distributor for Toyota and Lexus in the UAE has confirmed that it is recalling certain models of Toyota Avalons and Corrola cars.

"There are 816 Toyota Avalons, 1999 to 2004 models, sold by Al Futtaim Motors in the UAE involved in a steering lock mechanism recall campaign," said Hugh Dickerson, senior general manager of sales and marketing for Toyota at Al Futtaim Motors. The car retail company also said that 55 Corrolla - 2000 and 2001 models - are being recalled because of issues with the airbags.

While Al Futtaim said that it was making contact with all existing owners, it says if any customers have any concerns they should contact the Toyota customer care team.
