Dubai, Apr 03rd, 2011 (WAM)--Dr. Hanif Hassan, UAE Minister of Health officially opened the 3rd Annual Obs-Gyne Exhibition and Congress at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre today.
The event continues on 4 and 5 April, and will attract healthcare professionals working in the obstetrics and gynaecological fields in the Middle East region. This year, by combining the Arab Association of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Societies (AAOGS) annual meeting with the Obs-Gyne Congress, it has created the largest ever gathering of obstetricians and gynaecologists the Middle East Region has seen, drawing more than 55 regional and international experts from around the world. Dr Shamsa Al Awar, Senior Consultant OB-GYN at Al Ain Hospital, who represents AAOGS in the UAE, believes the UAE is the perfect location to further enhance Pan Arab cooperation and to standardise practices in the fields of obstetrics and gynaecology. "This pioneering event held for the first time in the UAE will be used as a benchmark for future gatherings," says Dr Al Awar. "By incorporating issues such as breast cancer, midwifery, infant mortality and high risk obstetrics in the conference programme, we adopt a holistic approach improving the lives of women across the region. Five streams are running throughout the congress including prenatal and feto-maternal medicine, fertility medicine, gynaecological cancer, sexual heath, benign and operative gynaecology as well as education initiatives."Running alongside the Pan Arab Obs-Gyne Conference is the Middle East Breast Cancer Conference, both CME accredited by Cleveland Clinic, and the Middle East Midwifery Conference which is regionally accredited by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). Over 38 exhibiting companies from 10 countries are present at the IIR Middle East organised event, which showcases healthcare technology and innovation from across the Obs-Gyne medical sector.
