Abu Dhabi, May 3rd, 2006 (WAM) -- Chairman of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) Sheikh Dhiyab bin Zayed Al Nahyan received today Yutaka Kobayashi the Japanese Parliamentary Secretary and Vice-Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry Secretary, Japanese Ambassador to the UAE Haijimi Tsujimoto and members of the accompanying delegation.
The Japanese official expressed admiration at ADWEA's achievements through its privatization program in which world largest corporations showed interest. Kobayashi said the contributions of the giant Japanese companies to the program are significant investment steps in Abu Dhabi which achieved a distinct regional and global status. Two Japanese companies, Tibco and Mistsui, took part in carrying out privatization programs within a giant global consortium in the 8 billion dollar Um Al Nar Project to generate 1500 Mega Watts of electricity and 25 Million gallon of water/day. Another Japanese company, Marobini, led a world consortium to carry out the Taweella-B with an investment value up to 11 billion Dirhams, the highest foreign investment so far into the region's water and electrify sector.UAE-Japanese investment ties lauded
