AL AIN, 15th December 2013 (WAM) -- Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Bin Shakhbout Al Nahyan, President of the Asian Chess Confederation and Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the FIDE World Chess Juniors Championship, has described forthcoming in Al Ain City, U.A.E., as a forum for peace and love as it is bringing together 1850 male and female players from 121 countries between 17th-29th December 2013.
The official also said that Al Ain City, which will host the championship for the first time ever in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), deserves to be named the world?s capital of chess. "The number of participants in the championship is the biggest in the history of the World Chess Confederation (FIDE)," said Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Shakhbout said adding that the total number of participants and their parents, members of delegations, teams and the different committees is expected to reach 4000. Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Bin Shakhbout Al Nahyan expressed gratitude for the incessant support for sports from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi, Executive Council, H.H. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation. He also thanked Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Youth, Culture and Society Development and President of the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare (GAYSW) for providing all capabilities for the success of the championship.
