Dubai: Pakistan and the UAE on Wenesday agreed to complete the process of moving and installing a 320-megawatt power plant from the UAE to Pakistan.

The MoU was signed by the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) Shaikh Diab Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Pakistan's Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf in Abu Dhabi.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistan's Ambassador to the UAE Khurshid Junejo, Ambassador-at-large Javed Malek and senior government officials were present at the ceremony.

The entire cost of dismantling, transporting and installation will be borne by ADWEA.

The plant consists of five Frame-5 gas turbines of 16 megawatts each and eight Frame-6 gas turbines of 30 megawatts each.

President Asif Ali Zardari thanked President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the precious gift for the people of Pakistan.

"The people of Pakistan will always remember this precious gift which they are receiving with love and sincerity from the brotherly country of the UAE," Zardari said in a statement.
