DUBAI - Emirates SkyCargo has launched e-HAWB (electronic House Air Waybill) module available in its web-based logistics system SkyChain.

The company claims that under this module customers can save up to 80 per cent of costs incurred on the advance filing of cargo manifests.

Pradeep Kumar, Emirates vice president Cargo Revenue Optimisation, said: "Our e-HAWB system is a forward-looking tool that has been designed based on our analysis of regulatory trends and security concerns in the industry. It can cater for any such future requirements from other countries worldwide. Our e-HAWB impacts positively on our customers' profitability and gives them better operational control. It is also one way of thanking our customers for making our New York services such a phenomenal success story."

The electronic transmission of the HAWB and MAWB (Master Air Waybill) details are mandatory for shipments to the United States, required by the US Bureau of Customs and Border Protection at least four hours prior to the arrival of a shipment. Using e-HAWB, Emirates SkyCargo quickly whizzes over full and correct shipment details, facilitating clarifications if required prior to arrival, and helping customers with hassle-free and faster clearance.

E-HAWB is a secure data bank that ensures complete confidentiality, a click of the mouse providing customers a list of only their shipments forwarded to Emirates.

The new module comes in the wake of Emirates SkyCargo's newly launched daily belly-hold services to New York.
