Dubai: Typing centres are not aware of any “new rule” allegedly requiring a Dh10,000 minimum monthly salary for Dubai residents wanting to sponsor their spouse or children.
Five centres authorised by the immigration department to complete visa application forms said on Monday there was no such rule.
They said they had not received any instruction or notice from immigration officials regarding any rule change.
The typists added those with a minimum Dh4,000 monthly salary can still apply to sponsor their spouse and children.
“We read newspaper reports that some applicants were rejected because their salary was below Dh10,000. But we’ve got a number of successful applicants today earning Dh5,000 or Dh6,000,” a typist, who works at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) complex in Al Jafliya, said on Monday.
In Abu Dhabi, typing centres reported no change in visa rules.
Mohammad Nisal from Expert Business Centre and Office Services, told Gulf News “so far there has been no official government notification on any changes to the salary requirements, it is the same as before. The minimum is Dh4,000. I made a visa for a family who are on a salary below Dh10,000, and they haven’t got back to me saying they have been rejected, or are having any problems.”
Aneef Rahman from Al Mushrif Typing Centre also Gulf News that the requirements were the same.
“The salary requirement is Dh4,000, it hasn’t changed, and the government hasn’t issued any new orders on any changes in salary requirements to sponsor a family.”
In Sharjah, a cross-section of employees at typing centres said they had not been informed about any change in requirements for sponsoring family members. The application forms and conditions for sponsoring family members, whether with regard to visit or residency visas are the same.
Gulf News checked a number of typing offices at the GDRFA and found there was no change in visa rules.
Employees at typing offices said transactions are still being processed on the normal Dh4,000 salary requirement, and confirmed that reports the salary requirement to sponsor family members is being increased are untrue.
An official earlier told Gulf News that if there was any change in the visa rule, it would be announced at federal level.
“So far there is no change,” the official told Gulf News on Sunday, denying earlier reports the salary requirement to sponsor a family had been raised from Dh4,000 to Dh10,000.
