Abu Dhabi

Two Emiratis from Abu Dhabi Emirate did in a road accident in Salalah in Oman on Saturday afternoon. The identities of the victims are not yet known. Omani Traffic Authorities are investigating the incident and have alerted the UAE authorities .

The 1300-kilometre stretch of road from Dubai through the desert and the breath-taking mountain range to Salalah, the resort town in Oman, has claimed many lives, including many Emiratis. The death of seven members of Al Kaabi family from Al Ain last year was a shook to the entire nation.

Retired army general Saif Abdullah Al Kaabi, 57, his two sons and dour daughters died in the incident in August 2012.

Thousands of tourists travel to Salalah by road to enjoy the spectacular greenery that blankets the Dhofar mountain range from June to mid-September during the ‘khareef’ season, when the south-west monsoon touches this southern-most tip of the sultanate. (end)
