TEHRAN - Turkmenistan's television on Saturday appraised the establishment of Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan railway as a main project by the Central Asian countries. All advanced and modern machineries have been bought for the project.
The initial agreement was signed by the Turkmen and Kazakh presidents in May, 2007. However, the final accord was inked by Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan on the sidelines of the summit of the Caspian Sea littoral states in September, 2007.
Three to five tons of commodities can be transferred via Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan railway and the figure can be raised to 15 tons.
The railway length is 900 km of which 700 km goes through Turkmenistan, 90 km through Iran and the rest through Kazakhstan.
