Erbil - According to the Turkish Dogan News Agency the court in Turkey's Mardin city ordered the removal of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP)'s Midyat office sign which is written in four languages including Kurdish.
The ruling stated that the sign on the front of the party's offices in Midyat violated laws pertaining to political parties. Dogan reports say the sign, written in Yurkish, kurdish, Arabic and Syriac, was removed by the federal police shortly after the ruling was made.
The sign put up following a BDP announcement last month that the Kurdish language should be used alongside Turkish in all aspects of life, caused controversy among the Turkish political parties.
A number of municipalities in Turkey's Kurd-dominated southeast, followed suit and added the Kurdish language to a range of municipal signs and information panels.
