The Ministry of Finance has recently established a call and information center on traffic offences, which provides citizens access to information and ensure remotely that they have or not road penalties and know the type of penalty and the amount required to pay.
Information includes various traffic offences as well as mobile and fixed radars.
During a press briefing which was held on Tuesday in Tunis, Mr. Mohamed Ridha Chalghoumi, Minister of Finance, said, that efforts are made to enable individuals to pay the penalty through the Ministry's website and a computersystem to be installed for this purpose.
The Minister stressed that the number of traffic offences identified through radars increased to 12,300 from April 20 to May 3, 2010 adding that all measures relating to the traffic offences aim mainly at improving road safety and reducing the number of road accidents.
He also pointed out that the call and information center will enable citizens who were penalized for having the required information and avoid the doubling of the amount of the penalty in a first step and the suspension of the license in a second step adding that the value of the penalty double for non-payment within a period not exceeding 40 days from the date of dispatch of the notice of infringement.
The driver's license is suspended in a final step and this after 55 days when informing the citizens of the offense.
Referring to the new remotely services, including the benefit of the Tunisian citizen living abroad, the minister announced that from the beginning of June 2010, the Tunisian abroad can put the information on the car he wants to import temporarily during his stay in Tunisia on the website of the Tunisian customs, in addition to developing a bar code to be presented as soon as access to the ship for a temporary traffic permit for his vehicle in Tunisia.
Mr. Chalghoumi stressed that the site can receive remotely different data for calculating the period of stay abroad, taxes and import tariffs on cars as well as it provides information on identifying the final return date to benefit from tax incentives,re- export the car to get permission to drive a car under the special scheme (RS), in addition to obtaining a traffic card across borders.
The administrative forms required for obtaining custom services are available to Tunisians living abroad on the same site.
On the other hand, the minister announced the implementation of the decision to not ask the investor documents already submitted to the ministry and that from April 15, 2010 for obtaining the tax ID and Customs.
This is part of the implementation of presidential decisions announced in the Cabinet Meeting that was held from April 7, 2010, and aims at simplifying administrative procedures and boosting the pace of investment.
He said that from June 1st, 2010, the tax ID will be adopted as the unique identifier of companies with tax and customs services.
The Minister also announced the creation of a cell of the unique speaker for new promoters and investors to help overcome any issues they may face and to realize their projects with the required speed.
Regarding the immaterial businesses upgrading, strengthening their competitiveness and improve their business environment, the minister discussed the continued promotion of single bundle, the bundle of transport, in addition to developing system "Sinda""and boosting the declaration and payment of remote taxes.
Mr. Chalghoumi focused on the role of single pay-office of foreign trade which can reduce the cost and time without being tied to the administrative timetable.
He also reviewed the benefits of the network "Tunisia TradeNet" which reduces the processing time of records that pass several days to several hours and sometimes minutes, depending on the approach.
