The Iraqi Ministry of Trade on Thursday signed an agreement with the Ministry of Transportation, under which the latter should transport flour to Basra province, according to a ministry statement.

"The director general of the State Company for Seeds Manufacturing, Muthanna Jabbar Abdulzahra, has signed a preliminary agreement with al-Badiya Company for Public Transportation to deliver flour to Basra province...," read a Trade Ministry statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
The deal will save the province 6 billion Iraqi dinars (ID) a year, the statement pointed out.
Basra receives 23,000 tons of flour a month to be distributed under the country's ration card system.
