KUWAIT, March 22 (KUNA) --

1917 -- Britain establishes the first telegraph line from Basra to Kuwait.

1964 -- Kuwait approves the agreement establishing the Arab Organization for Social Defense Against Crime.

1970 -- Denmark's first ambassador presents his credentials to the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.

1981 -- The Crown Prince, H.H. Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, approves the by-laws of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).

1989 -- Kuwait joins the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal.

1991 -- The first shipment of refined oil products is exported after the reconstruction of a number of petroleum installations that were destroyed during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.

1992 -- The first shipment of liquid gas is exported after the liberation of Kuwait.

1995 -- The Al-Fahad Physiotherapy Center is inaugurated. The center is specialized in the treatment of children from the age of one month to four years.

1998 -- Amiri Decree number 42 for the year 1998 is issued stipulating the formation of the 18th cabinet in the history of Kuwait headed by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, H.H. Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. The cabinet includes 14 ministers of which three are elected MPs.

2004 -- Yousef Abdulaziz Al-Fulaij, a philanthropist known as "father of the poor", passes away at the age of 95. Al-Fulaij was one of the founding members of the National Bank of Kuwait, Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kuwait Oil Tanker Company, Kuwait Airways Corporation, and Kuwait National Cinema Company.

2004 -- The National Assembly gives its vote of confidence to Finance Minister Mahmoud Al-Nouri following an interpellation by MP Musallam Al-Barrak.
