Abu Dhabi, Jul 05th, 2010 (WAM)--The Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has called on standardising quality of the health and curative services capable of gaining confidence of community individuals, especially those who seek treatment abroad.

The remarks were made in the first meeting of the Federal Health Authority held at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi under chairmanship of Health Minister Dr Hanif Hassan.

He stressed in the meeting that the authority would reach recommendations and visions to be submitted to the Cabinet, which will take appropriate resolutions that will upgrade the healthcare sector in the UAE.

"Confidence of a patient in our health institutions and doctors is the responsibility of authority and other competent authorities to curb travel abroad for treatment", he said, reiterating that the Federal Health Authority was set to raise efficiency of the health institutions.

The authority is also tasked to develop financial resources as specified by the constitution without infringing on services rendered to UAE nationals. It is also assigned to manage, set up health institutions, equip them with the latest medical devices to compete regionally and internationally in conformity with the world's quality standards.

To activate the work of authority's board, which is headed by the minister of Health, work team has been set. A think tank has also been assigned to specify and set general framework of the authority, organisational structure, internal system for human resources, financial regulations, restructure of the Ministry of Health, determining powers that will accrue from the ministry to the emerging authority and setting up of transfer mechanism of some employees from the ministry to the authority.
