Dubai: Vimal Kumar, the skipper of the Mahatma Gandhi University recorded the first hat-trick of the Maxtalent Pride Cup Inter Collegiate cricket tournament at the Dubai Investment Park ground.
Kumar's deadly spell wrecked American College of Dubai.
Mahatma Gandhi University won the toss against and made an imposing 256 for 3 wickets. Kunji Mohammad got them to a flying start scoring 116 runs from 65 ball, he was ably supported by Rakesh Gangawani scoring 64 runs.
American College could muster only 114 runs in 20 overs, Burhan was the only batsman who withstood the attack to score 30 runs.
Kumar with a spell of 4 for 17 got good support from Kunji Mohammad who also took 3 for 31 runs.
In the second match Middlesex put Preston University to bat.
Preston piled up 234 for 8 in 20 overs. Azeem Shakuat (36), Emad Ali (46) and Owais Ali (46) were the main scorers.
In reply, Maisam Raza the star of the tournament, cracked one more century to make it three in a row.
