Damascus - Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Suleiman al-Abbas discussed Monday with Ambassador of South Africa in Damascus Shaun Byneveldt means of boosting cooperation in the fields of oil, gas, refinery and investing the mineral resources, having benefit from the South African expertise in this domain.

During the meeting, both sides tackled the possibility of investment in the field of phosphate, refineries, and the South African companies' participation in rehabilitation processes of oil and mineral resources.

Minister al-Abbas said Syria welcomes cooperation with South African companies, particularly as the Ministry has begun to put work plans to rehabilitate and reactivate works of drilling in the near future.

The South African Ambassador, for his part, showed desire to getting acquainted with opportunities of investment in the oil and gas sectors.
