Damascus - The First International Conference on Applications of Geographic Data Systems and Digital Maps in Administration and Planning was opened in Damascus Sunday in cooperation local, Arab and foreign companies.
Several experts participating in the two-day conference delivered scientific lectures on the use of this special kind of science in urban planning, city planning, environment protection and administration of utilities.
Moroccan expert Sa'ad bin Baraka offered a work plan on the integration of geographic data systems in building a national data bank.
Belgian Star Abek Company presented a work paper on the bases and rules of success of geographical data systems.
Experts and specialized companies from Syria, Algeria, Tripoli, Saudi Arabia, Iran, France and Belgium are taking part in the conference.
