BAGHDAD: Kurdish Alliance MP member Mahmoud Othman declared today that his bloc supports establishing regions in Iraq, but on a constitutional, and not on a sectarian basis.
BAGHDAD: Kurdish Alliance MP member Mahmoud Othman declared today that his bloc supports establishing regions in Iraq, but on a constitutional, and not on a sectarian basis.
He added in a statement to Aswat al-Iraq that "the constitution did not stipulate establishing these regions on Sunni or Shiite bases."
Parliament Speaker, Usama Nujaifi, stated during his visit to the U.S.
that there is "Sunni disappointment if not redeemed promptly, they will declare the will to establish a region of their own."
He added that this statement will create a fuss, because it shall be connected with the old Byden project.
He wondered if these statements were personal or that of al-Iraqiya bloc.
