ABU DHABI, Feb 8th, 2006 (WAM) - In few months from now Dubai will see one of the finest urban street furniture or designer bus queue shelters installed across the city. These bus queue shelters will form the integral part of the urban landscape of one of the fastest developing cities in the world & will become the landmark spots of Dubai.

This massive project is a classic example of Public-Private participation in Urban Planning. Dubai Transport Authority in partnership with Madison Outdoor Media Services FZ LLC, widely known MOMS FZ LLC promoted under the young leadership of Mr.

Anup P Jalan is putting up the project for the benefit of the large population using bus transport, according to a press release.

There will be around 500 of these designer bus queue shelters across the city of Dubai & will be built & installed in the next 18 months in a phased manner. The design that has been selected to implement is code named 'The Crescent' by the designing team of MOMS FZ LLC. The design form is the contemporary manifestation of the word Crescent. The narrow base of the side support element emerging into a wider face coupled with the shiny metallic finish lends the whole structure a sense of lightness and stands tall & bright in the backdrop of Dubai's urban landscape. Its contemporary styling perfectly blends with Dubai's urbanism.

These bus queue shelters will also be air-conditioned in many places for the comfort of the waiting passengers. Making the bus queue shelters air-conditioned is a landmark initiative in Dubai and it will be amongst the first to do so in the world in such a large scale.

All the bus queue shelters will be very modern & contemporary in its look & feel as it will synchronise with the fast growing Dubai's urban landscape. The Bus queue shelters will be made of Stainless steel cladding & Aluminium channels which will make the shelters not only very good looking but also long lasting as well. The bus queue shelters will have 3 sided glazing for clear visibility of incoming buses while sitting inside & will have automated sliding door to control air-conditioned temperature inside the bus queue shelter.

The bus queue shelters will be well-lit from inside & will have detailed offline bus information system on the back panel for passengers to see. Also research is on to introduce real-time bus information through GIS for the benefit of the waiting passengers.

The seating arrangement will also be very modern & sturdy enough for the comfort of the waiting passengers.

There is a social commitment attached to this huge project.

While designing these street furniture, MOMS FZ LLC thoroughly considered all the elements that should go alongwith these modern bus queue shelters. Hence every shelter will have adequate bins which will clearly accept garbage in 3 different sections of paper, glass & metal. Initiative will be taken by the operational team of MOMS FZ LLC to clear off garbage on a regular basis.

Also each bus queue shelter location will have atleast 2 utility units like ATM machine, Beverage vending machine, Newspaper vending machine etc based on the requirement of the location.

It is clearly going to be a landmark achievement for the already growing modern city of Dubai to introduce such modern street furniture concepts in the following months. The initiative is challenging enough & both Dubai Transport & MOMS FZ LLC are keen to roll on with the project.

Huge investment is committed from MOMS FZ LLC for the project.

As per their officials over AED210 million will be invested by the company during the life of the contract in building these high class bus queue shelters and running them in a professional manner.
