DOHA: The Spanish Business Council will organise a lecture about highrise buildings in Qatar at Hilton Hotel on Sunday with the participation of approximately 100 engineers and relevant speakers.

The event will be hosted by Harinsa, a construction company which belongs to ECISA, a Spanish Group created with the purpose of performing works for third parties, with activity in all construction sectors.

The company´s acquired experience and know-how have provided significant projects such as the Alicante Airport extension and the F1 Street Circuit in Valencia in Spain, tram networks, and more than 40 highrise buildings, among many other projects.

The topic of the event is 'Highrise Buildings in Qatar', with the participation of Qatar Society of Engineers and the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning as special guests.

Key speakers include Carmen de la Peña Corcuera, Ambassador of Spain, and Abdullah Mohamed Al Baker, Board Member of the Qatar Society of Engineers (Head of Architectural Branch), who will share his experience working for local construction since its very first origins.

Mohuiddin Sami Jamaleddin from the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, will  answer the questions: What lessons have been learnt from the past years? What should be improved? What challenges will be faced in the future?

Amer Khadim A Al-Mubarak, also from the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning and Senior Architect at Capital Projects and Planning and Development Department, is set to explain permissions, licenses, safeties, and parking requirements and local needs and perspectives.

Luis Andreu Cabrera, Harinsa Contracting Company Qatar Area Manager, a civil engineer and architect, will talk about the construction process, while Guillermo Baraut Bover, Engineering Director at MEng MSpICE and civil and structural engineer will approach the design criteria.

An entrance fee (not applicable for Spanish Business Council members) of QR100 will be collected from the participants.
