Tehran -- Project to set up tourism and recreational complex and tourism city 'Padideh' will be implemented in cooperation with a Spanish company in Shandiz, a suburb of Mashhad. Announcing this, managing director of Padideh International Tourism Development Company, Mohsen Pahlavan-Moqaddam said in a meeting with Spanish Ambassador to Iran Leopoldo Estampa that the project seeks to promote tourism in the region.

It is anticipated that the project will be complete within a year, he noted.

Referring to the incumbent government's seriousness in developing tourism, he said that it has extended necessary support to the project.

Estampa, for his part, expressed his government's readiness to share its experience in the field with Iran.

Spain is one of the leading countries in attracting tourists in the world, he contended, arguing that Spain, which has a population of 40 million, hosts 50 million tourists each year.

He added that Iran has great potentials in tourism industry and it has the potential to be turned to a tourism hub in the world.
