The designer of Burj Dubai will be a keynote speaker at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat's eighth world congress next March.
The conference which takes place every five years will be held in Dubai for the first time. The council is an international organisation that sets the criteria for high buildings across the world. It is the body that will confirm Burj Dubai as the tallest building in the world when it is completed next year.
"It is very significant that the council has chosen Dubai for its next congress," said Eric Tomich, Associate Part ner at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the firm of architects that designed Burj Dubai.
"Dubai's future and growth is in tall buildings and the fact that the council is coming gives recognition to this." Adrian Smith, the tower's designer, will be one of a number of renowned architects, planners and engineers to speak at the congress.
