ABU DHABI, 8 May, 05 (WAM) - Mohammed Butti Al Qubaisi, Chairmanof the General Authority for Health Services for the Emirateof Abu Dhabi (GAHS) Executive Committee and Clyde H. Eder, CEO,Sheikh Khalifa Medical City have received official notificationfrom the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA)granting the renewal of accreditation for the Sheikh KhalifaMedical Pavilion for an additional three years, demonstratingthe most recent medical achievement in the UAE. The Sheikh KhalifaMedical Pavilion was initially granted Accreditation in January,2002, meeting the criteria for standard of care delivered atworld class hospitals and the first hospital in the Middle Eastto have achieved this status by the Canadian Council on HealthServices Accreditation (CCHSA), according to a press release.

Sheikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of theGeneral Authority for Health Services for the Emirate of AbuDhabi, praised the efforts of the Sheikh Khalifa Medical Pavilionand the General Authority for Health Services for achieving theAccreditation status. Sheikh Hamed confirmed hisstrong support and commitment to the Accreditation of all thefacilities that the General Authority for Health Services managesand operates. The Accreditation process has been a useful vehiclefor moving the Sheikh Khalifa Medical Pavilion towards excellence.

Mohammed Butti Al Qubaisi stated that the Accreditationprocess has successfully played a role in monitoring the healthservices delivery of our organization. He emphasized that Accreditationstatus granted from the CCHSA ensures that the Sheikh KhalifaMedical Pavilion is delivering consistently the highest standardsof quality services and has attained a high level of patientsatisfaction. He added, the Sheikh Khalifa MedicalPavilion achieved Accreditation by its on going commitment withinthe multitude of professional groups who worked collaboratelyand collectively to ensure that the delivery of care to its patientswas of the highest standard.

The Accreditation Survey was held during April 3-6, 2005, atwhich time the CCHSA sent a Group of four Surveyors to visitthe Sheikh Khalifa Medical Pavilion for the Accreditation Assessment.

The CCHSA is a voluntary, non profit, non government organization.

They examine the level of care and services a health organizationprovides and in addition to recognizing areas of excellence,they also identify methods of improving the quality of servicesprovided. The CCHSA conducted the onsite survey at the SheikhKhalifa Medical Pavilion to assess the current processes, outcomes,and structures with the focus on continuous improvement withinthe health services delivery system. The Accreditation processis an ongoing process and the committees at the Sheikh KhalifaMedical Pavilion that were set up previous to the initial AccreditationAssessment in 2002, have remained intact since and have met continuallyto assess their performance in preparation for the future andon going Accreditation process. The CCHSA Accreditation Processalso ensures that physicians and staff are appropriately credentialed,monitors the progress of the organization, provides a frameworkfor continuous improvement, and serves as a benchmark againstinternational standards.

Clyde H. Eder, CEO of the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City was pleasedto receive the Accreditation Status for the Sheikh Khalifa MedicalPavilion. The Sheikh Khalifa Medical Pavilion is part of theSheikh Khalifa Medical City, in addition to the Al Jazeera andCentral Pavilions, Behavioral Sciences Pavilion, Primary HealthCare Centers and several other Health Care Facilities in AbuDhabi.
