Sharjah,Oct.1st, 2007 (WAM) -- H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated last night at Qanat Al Qasba a photography exhibition which depicts the mosques around the world.
Being staged by Sharjah Auqaf Secretariat General in conjunction with Sharjah Culture and Information Department and Arab and Muslim missions in the country, the Exhibition will showcase over 150 pictures of the mosques in 48 countries around the world, exhibiting the featuring the magnificent and unique Islamic architecture and fine art. The show showcase photos of landmark mosques in Russia, Pakistan, India, Sweden, Far East, Arabian Gulf, Turkey and other countries. Sheikh Sultan said ''The exhibition presents a wonderful image for theinnovative Islamic architecture in all parts of the world.He also toured a solo exhibition of the Iraqi painter Mahmoud Hassan.
Around 35 works ranging from drawing to ceramic are on display.Organisers say the event is strong expression of cultural,civilisational and artistic interaction and shows the spread of Islam across the world.
