To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Bait al Bagh, seven new wings have been opened in the main building of Bait al Zubair Museum complex.

It was opened on Sunday under the auspices of H E Sayyid Saud bin Hilal bin Hamad al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat.

These include an Omani stamps room, an international stamps room, a manuscripts room, an Omani coins room, an Islamic coins room, a traditional Omani musical instruments room and an Omani wedding room.

Bait al Bagh was built by Sheikh al Zubair bin Ali in 1914 as his new residence to start his new life as a minister and advisor to Sultan Taimur bin Faisal.

Fahad bin Mahmood al Hasni, exhibition and collection manager, Bait al Zubair Museum said, "The new wings will showcase the various facets of Oman.

The stamps issued by Oman Post in 1966 and the stamps featuring Omani birds have been put on display. There is a collection of stamps released during sporting events. Visitors will be able to get a glimpse of Oman in a couple of hours."

Hasni said that the traditional Omani musical instruments room contains a number of instruments which have been used and are still in use such as Al Kasir, Al Rahmani, Al Burghami and Al Musundu.
