Senate president Taher Al Masri on Wednesday discussed cooperative relations and latest developments in the Middle East with the Head of the European Union (EU) mission to Jordan, Joanna Wronecka.

During the meeting, Masri stressed the Kingdom's desire to cement partnership relations with EU countries, especially among the parliamentary institutions.

He also praised the EU for the support provided to Jordan in helping it implement reforms and development programs.

Masri also spoke about the reform process in the Kingdom and efforts to further bolster democracy and broaden public participation in decision-making processes.

The two officials also discussed efforts to break the deadlock in the peace process, as well as the latest developments in Syria, where Masri highlighted the massive burden borne by Jordan due to the increasing influx of Syrian refugees.

Further, the EU official said the EU was keen to continue to work with Jordan to improve cooperation and to address various challenges in the region.
