A technical seminar will be held at the Grand Hyatt-Doha on May 26 on providing solutions to concrete reinforcement corrosion in the Gulf region.

The seminar will be held under the auspices of Ali bin Hassan al-Muraikhi, Qatar Metal Coating (Q-Coat) chairman and managing director.

The seminar aims to educate the public to use epoxy-coated rebar in construction projects, as it is the ideal solution to protect the concrete structure against corrosion due to exposure to high oxidation, resulting from excessive heat and humidity, which is one of the serious problems affecting steel rebar in the Gulf region.

Experts from the US, Saudi Arabia and Qatar will speak at the seminar. They will share their expertise and studies on the benefits of using the epoxy-coated rebar. High ranking officials and dignitaries from different government organisations as well as representatives of consultancy and contracting companies will attend the event.

Q-Coat is one of leading producers of fusion bonded epoxy coated rebar in the Gulf countries. It is located in Mesaieed Industrial City, and was founded in 1990 as a joint venture between Qatar Steel Company (50%) and Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company (50%).
