Health authorities in Bahrain have partnered with a second private consultant to verify the credentials of medical professionals.

The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) has signed an agreement with Dubai-based QuadraBay, which will authenticate the documents of potential employees.

In 2017, the NHRA signed a similar agreement with DataFlow Group, also based in Dubai.

“The move aims to ensure safe and reliable health services in Bahrain and to raise their quality, the primary requirement for which is credible healthcare providers,” NHRA chief executive Dr Maryam Al Jalahma told the GDN.

The new deal will have no effect on existing licence holders or renewals.

Bahrain has more than 18,000 medical professionals working across 822 licensed facilities registered under the NHRA.

Besides checking the authenticity of qualifications wishing to work in Bahrain, the agreement will also make the licensing procedures faster and effective.

Dr Al Jalahma explained that the role of the entities would be to verify the credentials of healthcare professionals from the primary sources. The move complements NHRA’s other initiatives to strengthen the national healthcare sector, the latest being a mobile phone application for health inspectors to allow them to digitally record health violations.

Munshaat is among the five new systems launched by NHRA last week, while the others are online platforms Munshaat and Mehan to help facilities and professionals with their licences, a mobile version of Mehan and an automated financial system for fee payments.

QuadraBay which boasts an in-depth knowledge of the region’s verification and credentialing market, assists government and semi-government entities, in licensing procedures.

“Our aim as professionals in the trade is to achieve industry-leading excellence as an impactful, innovative and efficient partner to our vast client base,” said QuadraBay managing director Yousef Al Nasr. “Working with the NHRA will add greater value and expertise to us, while we assure efficient services to candidates and relevant bodies in Bahrain, the GCC and beyond.”
