Producers of a major film are about to begin their search for the young woman who will star alongside Sir Roger Moore and Robert Downey Jr.

The makers of The Sangraal are holding a talent show contest which will eventually lead to one woman securing a $200,000 (Dh734,600) contract to act in the movie.

Abu Dhabi TV will show the contest to find the film's leading lady on a feature called Search For A Star.

The Sangraal is the first film being made by Nickelson Entertainment Group (NEG) and has a budget of more than $50 million (Dh183.5 million).

Described as a cross between Indiana Jones, The X Files and Nicholas Cage's National Treasure, the archaeological thriller will be filmed in Abu Dhabi and Budapest.

Women aged 25 to 35 who are "lovely and talented" are being asked to attend the first casting session at the beginning of December for the role of Carmen.

A selection of contestants will be divided into "activity groups" and will have to do challenges of the kind an action hero would be faced with.

In January, six contestants will be chosen by the stars, the director and the producer of The Sangraal and before the final selection is made.

Viewers of Search For A Star, which will be part of the Cinematic show on Abu Dhabi TV, will be able to vote for their favourite contestant using mobile phone SMS messages.

Michelle Nickelson, President of NEG, said the producers were hoping for an impressive selection of candidates at the first casting session.

"We would like to invite all the ladies who have already applied and those who are interested in applying to come to the show.

"They should remember to dress to impress because they may end up being interviewed by presenter Joyce Bousader for television as one of the first group of contestants for Search For A Star," she said.

In the film, Sir Roger stars as Murdoch Macarthur, the head of an ancient organisation, while Downey Jr plays the film's lead character, Stone, an Abu Dhabi-based archaeologist who "unwittingly ends up solving one of the world's greatest mysteries".

Other stars lined up for the project include John Rhys Davis, who played Gimli in Lord of the Rings, and Joachim de Almeida, who was in the television series 24.

Those interested in taking part in the casting can register online at www.neginc.biz and attend the first casting session at Mall of the Emirates at 11am on December 1.
