Al Ain: The Civic Administration has launched a completion to select the most elegant gardens in homes in contest for the whole of Abu Dhabi emirate.
The contest aims to appreciate garden owners’ endeavours for a healthy lifestyle and contributions to improving their surrounding environment.
The contest, with nine categories, is open to those who own and develop gardens at their homes in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, and the Western Region of Abu Dhabi emirate, Al Ain Municipality announced on Sunday.
The beautiful gardens contest has been launched under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation and the Head of the General Women’s Federation.
Those wishing to participate can do so by filling in specific forms that will be distributed through the customer service centres of the three municipalities.
Candidates can submit their forms until January 9, 2013.
The screening of the form and initial assessment of the application process runs from December 15 until January 15.
It will later be followed by the process of final evaluation and inspection of the gardens between January 15 and March 2.
Salem Rashid Al Kitbi, Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Competition and Executive Director of the Municipal Services at Al Ain City Municipality, said some 15,000 forms will be distributed including 6,000 each in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi and 3,000 in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi. The contest aims at encouraging people to pay attention to their surrounding environment and play their role in improving the image of the cities they live in.
He also confirmed that a technical committee will carry out an evaluation of the participating gardens and then first, second, and third places will be selected from each category.
The nine categories include the most beautiful garden, diversity of plants and elements, safety and security, care and hygiene, quality of light, quality of irrigation system, and the best creative idea.
The winners will be given attractive prizes, which will be announced at a later stage.
