Saudi Umm Al-Qura University has signed agreements to carry out four university projects, at a total cost of SAR 597 million (USD 160 million), an official source told Zawya.
The university has commenced construction of the College of Social Sciences, College of Da'wa (Call to Islam) for girls in Abedya, at a cost of SAR 238.7 million, the College of Education for girls in the same governorate at SAR 105.9 million, a College of Computer and Information systems, a College of Arts (for girls) for SAR 194.8 million and classrooms for pre-college girls, at a cost of SAR 58.3 million.
The Saudi Ministry of Finance had approved funding Umm Al-Qura University with SAR 1 billion (USD 266.6 million) to undertake new projects by the university in 2012-2013, along with carrying out projects from the previous fiscal year.
"The colleges of Arabic, Islamic Sharia, Islamic studies, community, continuous education, administrative sciences for girls in Abedya will be added to the first phase of projects and other projects under construction, which are the colleges of Usul Al Din, applied arts, computer science, social sciences, arts and education besides the general administration building for girls, an Arabic learning center, the Central Library, a 180- class complex of four buildings, an activities and events hall, a reception, a parking area, and the infrastructure for the girl's hostel and two electricity and air conditioning stations," said the source.
