BEIRUT (Zawya Dow Jones)--Saudi Specialized Pipes Co., or SSP, has started construction work at its polymer concrete pipe factory in King Abdullah Economic City, or KAEC, on the Red Sea coast to the north of Jeddah, Riyadh-based Al Jazirah daily reports Saturday.

The factory, located in KAEC's Industrial Valley, is expected to cost 32 million Saudi riyals ($8.53 million) and to start operations in the second half of 2011, the paper reports.

This project is part of SSP's strategy of expanding its operations and accessing international markets through KAEC's Industrial Valley, the daily reports, citing Mazen Kotob, operations manager at SSP. The company was founded last year.
