JEDDAH: The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) will develop the sulfuric spring in Hafr Al-Batin, in the northeast of the Kingdom, for tourists looking for physiotherapy, the commission announced Sunday. It described the project as a quantum leap in tourism in Saudi Arabia.
"We have religious, entertainment, cultural and safari tourism. Now with this spa will have medicinal tourism," it added.
According to the commission, the project lies on the international road between the Kingdom and Kuwait and consists of two large basins that will have about 70 cubic meters of water with temperatures between 60-70 degrees centigrade. It added that the project will have a total area of 3,500 square meters. "It will also have a number of diving spots, car parks and playgrounds for children," it added.
The commission said the project is a joint venture with Hafr Al-Batin governorate, the municipality and others.
"It will have high quality service that will suit all people and tastes," it said.
Meanwhile, chairman of the commission Prince Sultan bin Salman said the SCTA will hold 26 festivals in various regions of the Kingdom this summer.
He explained that the tourist festivals will concurrently with the Jeddah 1432 festival and the summer festivals of Abha, Al-Nammas, Taif, Souk Okaz, Tabuk, Dhiba, Jazan, Al-Jouf, Riyadh and others.
