DOHA: After the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone, it's now the Samsung Galaxy Tab which is also "fluent" in Arabic content offering applications on social media and access to Islamic websites.
Stephen Jun, Mobile Phone Sales & Marketing Director at Samsung Gulf, said the Galaxy Tab is fully 'fluent' in Arabic, giving consumers in the region more motivation to pick up the device over other similar products.
"It comes fully equipped with the native Arabic language which means no more illegible characters when checking your Arabic content," Jun said.
A significant Arabic feature from the Galaxy Tab is the range of Arabic applications from the Samsung App store.
Samsung's Noor Applications include 10 applications to help the lifestyle of Muslims in the MENA region.
The lifestyle Muslim application comes equipped with the Hijri calendar, Prayer Times, a Mobile Quran, Al Sunna, Al Doaa, Zakaty, plus comprehensive explanations for the origins and benefits of Prayers, Tasbeehs and Sunnas.
These applications give users access to many custom-developed regional applications such as the Hijri calendar and Prayer Times. The Hiji calendar is then integrated into the Galaxy Tab's calendar with real-time updates of Islamic and National holidays catered to the users' location. The user friendly Prayer Times app calculates official prayer times in over 400 countries with multiple Adhan voices. In addition, it displays the position of the Qibla to help users during their prayer sessions.
The Galaxy Tab has mobile Quran application which is Al Azhar certified and features popular Ottoman calligraphy. Arabic users can also receive automatic indexes of all Muhammed Sunnahs for several situations, which explains the rewards of each Sunna. Al Doaa application displays Doaas and Ahadith Qudsaya with comprehensive explanations of origins and benefits.
"The Arab world today is becoming more and more fast-paced where constant communication and efficient tools are essential to stay up to speed. Smart tablets have enabled us to have access to information everywhere and at any time," Jun said. According to research from IDC, the regional smartphone market has grown nearly 65 percent from last year, clearly indicating a healthy local market. The sale of smart devices in the region stood at approximately 4.3 million units in Q3 2010 compared to 2.6 million during in 2009.
