Muscat -  SalamAir on Sunday launched service to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia with expectations that passengers from Oman will use it extensively to perform Umrah and Hajj. The airline is also banking on Saudi travellers to use the service to visit Salalah during the khareef season.

In addition, plans are under way to introduce direct flights from Muscat to Taif in Saudi Arabia. “Jeddah is an important market for SalamAir due to demand passengers from Oman visiting Saudi for Umrah and Hajj. Also, we hope to increase and promote Oman as a tourist destination among travellers from Saudi Arabia,” said Khalid al Yahmadi, chairman, SalamAir during the Jeddah route launch event in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

He said that SalamAir is focusing on direct routes. “Our current focus is on direct routes keeping passengers' convenience in mind. In addition, we are focusing on offering our passengers an affordable travel experience without compromising on quality.”

After Jeddah, SalamAir plans to launch direct flights to Karachi, Sialkot and Multan in Pakistan.

SalamAir has introduced three easy fare options - light, friendly and flexi to Jeddah.

Light fares have been designed for customers who travel light and only require hand baggage. Next is the friendly fare, which includes 20kg of checked luggage plus 7kg of hand baggage.

With return tickets as low as RO89, Oman’s first budget airline flies daily to Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport.

For maximum passenger convenience and value, Flexi, has all the advantages of friendly along with priority check-in and the possibility to change flights at no extra cost.
