SALALAH -- The second campaign to rationalise the consumption of rural power has operated its first stations in Hasik in Dhofar Governorate under the slogan (Conserve Electricity and Save Your Money for Your Children). The campaign is run from March 26 to April 11. Oman Establishment for Press, Publication, and Advertising (OEPPA) publishers of the Observer and its Arabic daily, Oman, is the media sponsor of the event. Amer al Marhoon, representative of Rural Areas Electricity Company in Dhofar, commended the students and civil campaign.
The campaign has also contributed in enhancing awareness about the need for rational use of electricity and its safety aspects and risks involved among young people and adults. It reaches out to schools of Al Qadisiyah General Education School and Hasik School for girls in the region. Besides, visits to several government establishments were held at the Health Centre, and the Municipality of Hasik. However the campaign is still going on in Wusta Region and the Wilayat of Mazyoonah.
